When I think about saving money, or lunch for that matter I don’t usually think of Whole Food Market, in Mount Pleasant, SC. I remembered their tasty pizza, an since they’re close I went over for lunch today. I’ve only been to Whole Foods Market about 4 or 5 times in the past 2 years or so since a friend told me about them.
On to the business of this post …

I had another quick Jade Dragon meal today for lunch. Another Mandarin Orange Chicken frozen meal with a Nature Trails Oats & Chocolate granola bar and to round it off a generic Fruit Punch Soda – all from Save-A-Lot.
That’s the same cheap, quick meal as last week with the same frozen entree and a different choice of granola bar and generic soda – but I got the the same savings. Plus (it bear repeating) that the whole thing took about 8 minutes including walking back and forth from my desk to the refrigerator and microwave (2X).
Oh, and don’t get me started on their milk that actually costs less than a gallon of gas!
Jade Dragon Mandarin Orange Chicken was lunch today along with a Diet Dr. Pop and Nature Valley Oats ‘n Honey granola bars. So that’s a different entree than yesterday, but the same savings in $$$ and calories. Plus the whole thing took about 8 minutes including walking around the office, back and forth to the microwave.
$1.99 Jade Dragon Mandarin Orange Chicken
$0.25 (est.) Diet Dr. Pop
$0.40 (est.) Nature Valley Oats ‘n Honey granola bars
$2.64 Total, plus tax
Today’s lunch was quick and saved me money. Anyone reading the Food section of my blog probably realizes I have a habit of eating a lot of fast food at lunch. I’ve only started blogging about lunch recently but I used to eat almost daily at Taco Bell, McDonald’s, Wendys, Burger King, Arbys and the like.
Today’s lunch, however, was a 12 oz Diet Dr Pop (yep, a generic diet Dr Pepper drink), a Jade Dragon General Tso’s Chicken entree (Save A Lot to the rescue again), and Nature Valley Oats ‘n Honey granola bars – because the Jade Dragon microwaved meal isn’t especially filling for a guy like me. but it saves me money and is lower in sugar than what I might otherwise eat.
