Adsense coming to a video game near you?

Posted byAdsense coming to a video game near you? Surprisingly the answer is yes (surprising unless you knew about Google’s purchase of Adscape last year).
The Internet has informed me tonight that Google has rolled out Adsense for Games (now in beta); but don’t expect to see Google Adsense in any of your console video games – at least not for now. I remember ads in some Xbox video games, notably Axe ads in Rainbox 6 Vegas. Possibly like many other gamers I feel ads can add a touch of realism. That being said I can’t imagine Adsense ads in console video games since they are click-based advertising. I’m certainly not going to stop to activate an Adsense ad in mid-game, nor do I think I’d stop to watch a flash-based Adsense ad.
Not to worry as it appears that for now Google is targeting casual web-based games. Check the links below for more info, and keep your fingers crossed that if and when Adsense does come to console games that the ads don’t take away from the experience.
