Who keeps getting fingerprints on my monitor?

May 29th, 2008 by George

Who keeps getting fingerprints on your monitor? With Windows 7 it might be everyone! I think someone got iPhone envy and said “Hey, let’s make the next version of Windows like an iPhone. Only without phone service. Or …” So now everyone’s fingerprints will be all over my monitor, thanks Microsoft!

If there is one thing I HATE, it’s people putting fingers on my monitor… GRRRR.

So, Windows 7, will have touch screen capabilities eh? It’ll only be the deluxe, ultimate, premium version though. It’ll also need a 5GHz quintuple speed processor, and a special $1,000 monitor, and it won’t work properly until SP4 comes out, and you’ll never get the printer drivers to work.

Oh and, if we’re using it as a media center, how do we touch the screen when we’re watching a movie from the other side of the room?

Remember too, when you upgrade Windows, you ALWAYS need to upgrade the machine it runs on too for the “full” experience.

No doubt the hardware requirements would go up. Windows 7 might spurn a new product though - monitor gloves. I can imagine the ads….

“Touch your new Windows 7 monitor without the worry of getting annoying fingerprints on your beloved new $1,000 touchscreen monitor. Monitor mounted Glove dispenser sold separately.”

Oh, and while I’m on the humorous, imagine calls to monitor manufacturers…

“I was showing my son/daughter how to double-click and he/she pushed too hard and the monitor fell off of my desk!”

    More humor….

OS: “Thank you for calling OnStar for Touch Monitors, may I help you?”

USER: “Yes I was just using my monitor and it broke.”

OS: “We show a severe strike on your monitor recently sir, did you hit it?”

USER: “Umm no, I was just, errr editing a photo.”

OS: “Sir the strike was 3 times the normal allowable pressure range. Should I send medical help for you?”

    USER: “What? Medical help, why?”

OS: “I can see from your OnStar webcam that your hand is bleeding. Do you require assistance?”

USER: “Darned webcam! Umm, ok I was editing a photo and got that new Orange screen of death, you know the Blue screen of death’s replacement on Windows 7, its supposed to be a more soothing color. Well it wasn’t and I hit the monitor pretty hard. I should be okay. Any chance of getting it replaced under warranty?”

OS: “Thank you for calling OnStar for Touch Monitors, have a nice day,” <Operator hangs up>

    USER: “Hello? Hello? Darned webcam!”
