My Linux Journal Day 18
January 19th, 2008 by George
Just a quick note with more detail later…..
I’ve installed Wine, and to test it installed Notepad++. That seems to have gone well.
Also since my Linux machine only has 128MB 512MB of RAM with a PIII 900MHz CPU, and because I wanted a larger monitor with higher resolution I’ve installed BFG Technologies ASLMX4000 GeForce4 MX4000 128MB AGP (GeForce4 MX 4000) and a Philips Brilliance 202P4. This seems to be working well so far.
Oh and how about a cool screenshot:

Have never run wine at all. Figured I didn’t want to taint a linux box with windoze stuff, and anyway, with a windoze box next door, didn’t need to!

You’re a bit more purist than I, plus I want to check out Linux as much as I can, and compatibility is a nice thing. Macintosh PC’s can also “speak Microsoft” to some extent.
I also learned there may be a gecko-powered workaround to Internet Explorer while digging around on that subject. IE is one of the reasons I looked into Wine. I might try Dreamweaver 8 and/or Photoshop CS2 also. Although the PC might not have the power needed. Its got a 900MHz Intel PIII with only 128MB RAM.
